In a culture where a woman's only value was to provide children, Hannah, the mother of the prophet Samuel, was barren. She poured out her heart to God, and God heard her and gave her a son. God hears. The creator of the universe sees our tears, hears our prayers, and cares about our lives.
This monologue is a story for Mother's Day or any day. It is a story of God's faithfulness and graciousness. It is also a story of what being a mother means. Because she has known need and seen God provide, Hannah is keenly aware that children are God's gift.
