The Parable of the Workers Return to sketches
Parable_Of_The_Workers.jpg In this light-hearted retelling of the parable the owner of the vineyard hires different sets of people throughout the course of a day. He first hires church leaders, then people with some history with the church, then sinners from bars, and finally teenagers with funny hair and body piercings. They react as did the people in Jesus' story. The latecomers are bowled over by grace, while the early comers are resentful at "having" to spend so much time in the vineyard to get the same reward. Do we really understand God's grace?

We did this at our dinner theater with volunteers from the audience for non-speaking roles. It was great fun and allowed people who had watched other sketches to express themselves.
